After long and hard work, Kiribati people were convinced that this was for their own benefit, and accepted it as a common cause, not to allow overfishing.
Phoenix islands had a coral bleaching after a while, which means for 6 months the islands were under a heat wave, which burned down 60% of the corals.

Yet, after 6 months again, the corals were recovered, faster than any other example. The main reason of this recovery was the balance in the ocean, the optimal amount of fish, which was sustained by not allowing overfishing anymore.

With only one problem to deal with ( over heating ), and other possible problems prevented before they happened ( pollution, overfishing etc… ), Kiribati managed to overcome this problem very quickly.
The careful and professional exploration in Kiribati revealed a problem that would cause them a lot of trouble in the long term. And after realizing it, they took a common step against it, and prevented it before it caused any harm, seeing the whole picture. They minimized the human problems in their country, which facilitated dealing with nature problems, such as coral bleaching.
One of the poorest countries in the world can take steps in advance, can prevent problems before they happen and take a common stand for their own interest. They are a great example to all the other countries which fail to do so.
There are many things to be saved in our earth.
