The launch of the Soyuz TMA-16 on September 30, with Guy Laliberté (founder of Cirque du Soleil) on board, marked the beginning of the Poetic Social Mission, the world’s very first social and artistic mission to be carried out from space. Moving Stars and Earth for Water will be a special online event which will takes us through 14 cities around the world. It will bring together personalities from different backgrounds who will join voices to celebrate water.
This one-of-a-kind global event, to be broadcasted on October 9, will consist of a poetic tale written especially for the occasion by renowned novelist and Man-Booker Prize-winner Yann Martel. The tale will be gradually revealed as the program takes us through the 14 cities and will bring together personalities from different backgrounds such as Former U.S. Vice president Al Gore, U2, Tatuya Ishii, Peter Gabriel, Patrick Bruel, Shakira, A.R. Rahman, Julie Payette and many others who will join voices with Guy Laliberté to celebrate water.

"We will do a show where world-known artists set in 14 cities, on 5 continents will read, at the same time, poems dedicated to the problem of water in the world". The Moving Stars and Earth for Water show will take place in Montreal, Moscow, Santa Monica, New York, Johannesburg, Bombay, Marrakesh, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, London and other cities that will be announced soon."We are very excited. This show has been prepared for 4 months. It involved huge technical work. " declared Guy Laliberté.
Laliberté, who's behind the "One Drop" Foundation said that all this show has been thought with a purpose: to raise humanity’s awareness on water-related issues. "It is very serious. If we don't draw people's attention on this issue, there will be a serious crisis linked to the lack of water. Through art, I try to draw people's attention to environmental issues, to raise humanity's awareness ". Laliberté who's fulfilling his 12 days mission on board with Russian cosmonaut High Suráyev and NASA astronaut Jeff Williams, hopes that this journey will bring joy to many people. "Yes, I want to be the first clown in the cosmos and, moreover, I want to draw attention to the problem of water.
