Green cinema is EMISSIONS - FREE

Published 26th October 2009 - 5 comments - 2473 views -

Eco cinema is green in matter of money. Meaning you don’t need to pay for it.

The European Environment Festival Foundation organizes the first such cinema festival in the German “Goethe” institute in Sofia.

You can see how life can be greener between 28-30 this month in the institute`s building. Watch movies, eat popcorn and learn how you can help your planet or at least how not to help it "die" faster. I suppose that is the thought of most of the people - "this doesn`t concern me, I`ll be death when the Earth disappears."

The productions are mainly aimed to the students, scholars and the academicals. From particular interest are of course the problems related to the Climate change and the Global warming. There will be a second edition of the cinema week, which will be held from 30th November to the 6th December.

The audience will see there the latest top flickers, awarded on the EU “Green wave – 21 century”eco fest. European Environment Festival Foundation organizes the annual International Environment Festival in Bulgaria for films and TV programmes dedicated to ecology and environment protection.

This summer it took place in one of the most beautiful Bulgarian cities Koprivshtiza. The event is being organized in partnership between Goethe institute Bulgaria and the media program for Southeast Europe of Conrad Adenauer Foundation.

The idea of the cinema project is to become a tradition and have its forthcoming editions in other cultural institutions.

EVFF does a lot of actions, so that the youth can collaborate in eco projects, represented by the means of art, new technology and cooperation. They give not only awards, but also a Nobel Prize for Ecology.

I`m happy that our country is one of the strongest concerning the new production ideas in cinema. This is a promise to the future that work and pleasure can be sustainable and pleasing as well.

You can see the full list of cinema contributions from the last year in the brochure.

Very nice. I’ll go to watch them smile And I’ll tell my friends too. That way we can all inform us a little bit more.

One of the biggest Topics: the world is emitting huge amounts of greenhouse gases that are changing our climate. If our governments don’t take serious action to cut emissions soon, climate change could have a disastrous and irreversible impact on our planet within the lifetime of today’s young generation. Post a message about “What should governments do to fight climate change?” on http://www.fightclimatechange.eu and tell the political leaders what you want them to do. A sample of messages will be presented to leading EU officials during the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, 7-18 December 2009. Take the chance and let your voice be heard!
