Kathryn Blume is an actor, writer, environmental activist, solo performer, and Co-Founder of the Lysistrata Project, the first worldwide theatrical event for peace. She has toured The Accidental Activist – her critically acclaimed one-woman show about Lysistrata Project – to over 30 cities in the US and Canada, receiving an Austin Critics Table Award nomination. Kathryn has performed her solo show The Boycott, a modern eco-update on the ancient Greek comedy Lysistrata, in a 6-week off-Broadway run, and toured to over 20 cities in the US and Europe, including Copenhagen for the UN climate negotiations in December, 2009. Kathryn garnered an Outstanding Activist Award from the Vermont Environmental Action Conference for her work on The Boycott and was commissioned by the Vermont Arts Council to write a new solo show Flight about her trip to Copenhagen. In amongst her numerous off-Broadway and regional theatre credits, Kathryn has had essays published in the books MoveOn.org's 50 Ways To Love Your Country, Code Pink's Stop the Next War Now, Outcry - American Voices of Conscience Post 9/11, and 365 Ways to Change the World. She has had essays and articles published in the Burlington Free Press, Seven Days, Yes Magazine, and numerous blogs and websites. Kathryn is also a frequent public speaker on climate change, peak oil, and Transition Towns. Kathryn founded Earth on the Air, a nationally-syndicated, award-winning environmental and social justice radio program, co-founded The Hill Actor's Retreat Center and New Paradigms Personal Coaching Services, and has worked for organizations such as the Sierra Club, Friends of the Earth, and Forest Watch. She has taught yoga, acting, directing, Shakespeare, stress-reduction, public speaking, and positive-visioning workshops in venues across the country. Kathryn received her BA from Yale with a self-designed degree in environmental studies and theater and is also an ordained Minister with the Universal Life Church. She lives in Vermont with her husband Mark Nash.
