More about religion ..

In my first post today Who said it is me or you? Daniel commented that:

''About religion - do you think being born into a religion, or into any context really, is the same as being forced to be catholic/lutheran/muslim etc. ? I wouldn’t agree with that, as I think your nationality, religion and other identities is something you construct yourself. You might be catholic, but what that means is entirely up to you in the end.

And do you think a society where people are good to each other is possible without religion? Even Adam Smith wrote somewhere that capitalism works because people are afraid of their neighbours judgement and even more of God’s judgement, and therefor they don’t misuse the system to maximize their own profit.''

We are born with certain package like place, parents, opportunities and religion. I believe that you have a lot of power and chance to change from where you are and it is partly your responsibility who you became.

BUT.

When I was grown up, in my family we do not really had Catholic habits and going to the Church each Sunday morning. It was something that exists and you belong to, but it is your choice how far you decide to belong.

I have a friend, who is Muslim and is grown up in religious environment and family. She is not eating pork, she has ways of behaving and believing in world, which I do not see, which are different for me. Mainly they include relationships, sex and attitude towards it. We are so different and I assume, if she would had be grown up in my environment or I in hers, it would be different way around.

We always have choice to decide and walk away from religion or to change it, if we feel that belief changed, but it would be as change from where you are from, what are your family, habits and beliefs you have been grown with. Does it seems like changing socks or cooking meal..? It is not everyday change you can make .. As it involves your roots..

To point my opinion, I want to say that religion mainly brings us to some regule of unknown punishment, which is not the right way of being good society. Yes, it is true that person is build up in some weird way or have lost is some way that incredible amount of empathy we have inside of us. It is about being grown up and let heart in childhood .. Or even haven't known that you have one. This brings me back to already a lot of times discussed matter of - what makes you happy and what is happiness. It is basically about fairy tales - bad and good things, bad and good people.

And people makes choices by themselves.

Why and how.. There maybe religion forces you to make a good choice, but, if this good choice is made by being afraid of God punishment, it doesn't make you a better person..
