Make your waste green and pay more. Or just pay more…
Congratulations, my dear compatriots. Today our favourite homeland got itself a brand new pursuing court action by the European Commission (EC). What for? To be exact, „for failing to properly implement European Union waste disposal law“, as the EC said in today's media statement. Which means that lots of money (from our taxes) will probably go to pay the fines after the decision is finalised. In fact the case concerns inadequate waste disposal facilities in Bulgaria – we made some promises in order to let us in but afterwards nothing happened. So now we're like the guilty ashamed pupils waiting for the verdict.
Though the infringement came after three preliminary letters - nothing was done. Still we have to go all the way to having normal disposal facilities. As an expert said during a Public-Private Partnership conference I attended yesterday, in Great Britain this is already past and now they're headed to using alternative ways of deppoting waste.
But can we skip it all? Can we just do in in the green way? Probably no. Cause all the green stuff is expensive.
No problem, our grandchildren will take care of this. Eventually. And until then – let's just pay our fines.

EC ‘warned’ us too. Not related to waste but to the air quality.
I don`t know if it sounds like that, but here people will see very soon what really does mean to pay for your own trash. We are the taxpayers and now we will double our costs, because the inability of our municipalities and the eco ministery.

I know. But that is not the point. Now we will receive a 2nd “greeting” from EC. Does anybody else in Bulgaria knows that? Hm. Tough one!
