Justin Timberlake, Lupe Fiasco and Kenna climb Kilimanjaro for clean water
Pop singer Justin Timberlake and rapper Lupe Fiasco will join singer Kenna to become mountain climbers, the international agencies inform. The trio intents to climb Moun
t Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, to raise awareness of the clean water crisis.
Continent's dramatic water shortage has hit nearly every nation and has a dreadful impact on the environment and people living there.
The idea is of Kenna, who was born in Ethiopia. "My dad almost died as a child from waterborne diseases," he explained in interview to Elle magazine. "I have many friends who would be concerned with the subject of clean water. Maybe I can help out."
Kenna said more celebrity climbers will be announced in the coming months, and he urges fans to follow the climb online. A donation as small as a dollar can provide 1,000 liters of clean water to those who need it, he explained.
"We wanted to make sure there was a way people knew this was an issue and a way for them to do something about it," he said Wednesday. "This is a global issue. It's not an Africa problem. It's not a South America problem. It's a world, global problem. In America, 11 million people go without clean water."
I am not that sure how a mountain climbing can help solving out the water problems, but still maybe Hollywood stars know better then us. It has been always easy for them to be paid attention to, so this campaign can have some influence after all. I am not sure, that I’d prefer this kind of activity to help for the solving of the water shortage question, but if the intentions are good, maybe it can help.
This latest charity attempt on Kilimanjaro follows the successful climb carried out by a group of British and Irish stars earlier this year. The team included Gary Barlow, Ronan Keating, Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole, singer Alesha Dixon, tv presenters Fearne Cotton and Ben Shephard, West-End star Denise Van Outen and radio DJ Chris Moyles. Their climb raised over £3,326,142 for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, which took place on March 15.
Kenna's first attempt to climb Kilimanjaro ended in disappointment. The singer developed an allergy to his altitude sickness medication, 5,547 metres into the climb. He was lucky to survive, because yearly about 10 people die on the way to the top.
"I've been training four times a week to get my VO2 (oxygen consumption) levels up to expand my lungs," Timberlake told GQ. "We'll climb for a week straight, carrying 30 pounds on our backs. It's going to be intense." His dedication has forced Kenna to train privatly. "I refuse to work out with Justin, because he's way fitter than I am," his friend said.
Lupe Fiasco has, meanwhile, a different set of priorities. "Part of the motivation is beating Kenna to the top," he said. "Sabotaging his tent, taking the lining out of his coat, lacing it with ants or something like that."
The climb is scheduled for the autumn. Maybe politicians will join them. They must also be sent to such kind of spiritual self finding with ecological aims, so that the solution of action hits their heads.

My boyfriend seems to have allergies all year long but he hates Benedryll because it makes him feel like he’s high and sleep. Lately he’s been having them really bad because of the warm weather with all the pollen in the air plus our cats are shedding and he’s allergic to cats.
