Eurodeputy presents a brand new plastic waste recycling technology

For the first time in the city Kardjali in Bulgaria has been presented new for the country plastic waste recycling technology. That is why all the Bulgarian media write about it. Does that mean that we feel the change or that we try only to fit the EU requirements?

Majors and ecologists from the region met on the scientific seminar, which was headed by the director of the mining-geological college in the city, the eurodeputy Prof. Vladko Panayotov. The recycling installation is part of the realization of European project with partners from Bulgaria, Denmark and Germany.

Eng. Alan Rasmussen and Prof. Giorgos Anastasakis also spoke on the topic of new eco technologies in Denmark and Greece.

The technology costs 30 000 euro – on the price of a new car, even maybe electric one. “In practice it can be used by everyone and investment repays in half to 1 year. From then on it brings only profits,” the Professor explained. The end product can be different depending of the computer module – bath tiles, pens, tiles for roads, children toys.

According Panaytov the only problem at this point is the provision of raw material, because in these parts of the country the separate waste collection is not popular at all. Strange...we have enough "raw material".

But is that the stage, where people start to learn? Actually there is no answer of that question, which is the biggest national ecoproblem. As long as people aren’t get used to recycle in proper way or at least to throw their garbage in the trash cans and not on the streets, nothing would change.

This new eco installation is just the beginning, he said. Its results will be energy and water saving, reduction of pollutant emissions.

”If we achieve all of that, we can accumulate the means, which can come back to us. After that we can speak about the usage of biofuels, which effect leads to nature preservation, reduction of the financial means, and electricity production from wood garbage,” the Professor added and said that this is an example of modern urban technology, which can fight long-lasting and effectively with the ecological challenges.

Actually the biofuels are not that new in Bulgaria. Producers from smaller cities use that technology, but it is not that popular yet, maybe because businessmen prefer to cut down the threes for their shopping centers and hotels and not to reuse it for such purposes. Though in the coming times biofuel will certainly gain more attention.

sounds promising but what does the technology do?
Does it convert old plastic objects into a plastic that can be used for new products? Does it work for plastic bags? can you explain?

I did my best to research the Bulgarian network about it, but I couldn`t dig more out!

So, I wrote now to the presscenter of the party, whom member this Professor is, to ask for cooperation. I hope, I`ll receive answer.
