COP15: Queues outside Bella Center stopp thousands from getting in

I thought I was done struggling when I was trying to raise funds for my trip. But I still can't get into the Bella Center because the waiting time for an accreditation badge is six hours or longer. I stood in the line for three hours on Monday at temperatures below freezing and no hot drinks stand nearby.

I kept standing because I had people much older than me and from all over the world standing as well. Everybody had different ways of coping, some kept talking, others would jump up and down, while others just stood still without doing much. After three hours of wind, I just couldnt take it anymore and left. I later heard that it took six to eight hours to get in!

It is very surprising that Bella Center has just four desks to manage accreditation when nearly 15,000 people were expected to arrive. How can such mismanagement be forgiven when you are supposed to be organizing the world's most important conference. There are people who've prepared so much to be here and it is just unfortunate that they cannot get inside.

wow. that is unbelievable. i hope you manage to get in soon. good luck smile

  • Benno Hansen on 15th December 2009:

What I heard is there are 45,000 badges but max 15,000 allowed inside at a time. And that a lot of the people waiting in line outside are waiting to get their badge, not really to get in. Make sure to get in the right line wink

  • Federico Pistono on 15th December 2009:

I’ll be in the same situation in a couple of hours… I just arrived! Maybe we’ll meet in the queue tongue laugh

  • Adela on 15th December 2009:

Benno’s right. 15k is the top no accepted at a time.

Did you get the 2nd badge in the end?

  • Nick on 15th December 2009:

Have you tried taking the shuttle bus in? It took less than an hour getting in that way today.
    N.

Just an FYI:  I just received an email from the head of my consitutency that says there will be no registrations on Wednesday!

  • Daniel Nylin Nilsson on 16th December 2009:

I hope and think you got it eventually. Still - it is really embarrasing with this mismanagement.

  • Paul Montariol on 16th December 2009:

If I understand: you have no chance to shake hand of Obama!
    My poor!
I think of you and hope you have other reasons to be happy!
    Open your eyes!

  • Federico Pistono on 16th December 2009:

No way Daniel, we’ll never get in.

We got inside the Fresh Air Centre, and very interesting things are happening here..
