TH!NK2: Climate Change Round One Winners Announced
The first round of TH!NK2: Climate Change has ended. The Editors have submitted their nominations and the Jury has come to a decision.
All TH!NKers deserve a serious round of applause!

The quality of the posts in Round One was unbelievable.
No kidding around, TH!NKers: what you have done so far is terrific. In every category, there were many posts that could easily have won and I want to emphasize how impressed every Editor and jury member has been with your work. Congrats to all!
The Jury members, Anne Autio from the EJC, Raymond Frenken from EUX TV and Tascha Eichenseher from National Geographic, had a very difficult time determining the three winners.
So difficult, in fact, that TWO other prizes have been added this month!
The additional awards are going to two honorary videos -- two outstanding pieces created this month.
Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for!
(drum roll please....)

Comments
Huh??? Excuse me? A “multimedia” award for a slideshow with 4-second video with not much of a sense? Am I the only one thinking that this is now much of a quality?
Al-xAo - I think that you have missed the point of the competition. The name of the competition isn’t ‘Make a techinally brilliant contribution’, its ‘Th!nk About It’ and that is precisely what this clip does. The clip is simple and highlights the nonchalance with which we act towards food waste. It gets people to think. If you could barely afford to feed your family or yourself, what would it be like to see a person throwing away sandwiches because of a set of numbers? Most of the food we throw away is still edible.
So yes, I think you are the only one thinking it is of low quality.
Chris
Sinisa’s post was one of my personal favorites.
Although I go through almost everything on the platforn, I somehow missed Jodi’s video.
Hemant is an exceptional advertising man
As for Chris and Fede, I can only admire them for their ability to play with the flip with so nice results.
Congrats to the winners!
I would first like to say that I am honoured to be included among such great authors.
As for the winners themselves, eventually it comes down to the way one personally feels about an article or a video. However, I think each one is somewhat objectively justified.
Sinisa was able to blend together a touching story and a detailed research, keeping the structure simple and the attention high throughout the whole post. The characteristics of a true journalist.
Jodi’s video was very simple, minimal. Sometimes you don’t need complex things to get the point across. Very effective in its simplicity.
As soon as I read Hemant’s post I knew he was going to win the impact category. I remember I even mentioned to Petrine a few days ago. It wasn’t difficult to see that coming.
Christopher used all what’s necessary for a good video. It has lights, editing, presence, screenplay and planning. Bravo.
As for me… well, it’s not up to me to judge.
I just think that there were many other posts that deserved as much as ours. And that makes very excited to be in this competition, regardless on how it’s going to end.
Thank you guys.
This has been an amazing experience all along. With such remarkable posts so far, one can have so much hope about the world we live in.
There is so much to learn and so much to discuss.
I feel very very humbled on my entry being chosen as one of the 5 winning entries for the first round.
I have loved and admired so many posts til now. And the real win is the learning one takes away from all the discussions.
@Adela, thank you for your kind comments.
@Federico - when i saw your video I was so inspired.
I can only say, if you haven’t read Sinisa’s entry, read it now. It’s very very powerful.
I agree with Federico on Jodi’s video. Sometimes, simplicity is best.
Looking forward to more learnings and more discussions in the competition.
Paul Rusesabagina (Hutu)
Oscar Schindler (Nazi)
Hemant Anant Jain (Adman)
You are a rock, Anant, in an ocean of doubt.
Very deserving winners!
Congrats all of you for the awesome posts and videos
I was pleasantly surprised when I read jury’s decision.
I am proud of my personal success in a very strong competition. At the same time, I am absolutely aware that it was achieved thanks to a serious environmental problem. Because of that I am not happy as much as I should be.
I am grateful to jury as well as all bloggers who have published a lot of great articles.
In my opinion there is no only one winner of this competition.
Everyone’s a winner!
Congratulations to all winners and to all TH!NKERS who posted articles. Great competition this month. Keep up posting good stories.
I was absolutely amazed to find out I’d won, and I appreciate the kind comments I’ve received. I plan to donate at least half of the money to a worthwhile cause.
I’m just glad there are two more months to go otherwise I’d feel bad that so many other talented people didn’t get a prize (your time will come!) That said, perhaps my win will inspire more amateurs among us to make short films with their flips.
This really has been a great competition so far - I’ve learnt so much and got involved in some pretty fierce debates. It’s been fun (and some time infuriating!).
Congrats to everyone involved - and especially those who won this time around.
BRAVO to all the winners!
