We've come a long way, baby.

The TH!NK2: Climate Change journey began three months ago today in Copenhagen.

And today, after over 1,000 posts and 6,000 comments, we're announcing the last awards in the competition.

The plaform's lifespan, however, is by no means over! TH!NK2: Climate Change has been extended for two more months. 10 bloggers who continue to post online for the next two months will be selected for seats in TH!NK3: Developing World.

TH!NK3 Developing world is an increadible opportunity to report and write on development issues all around the globe, and includes opportunities for the participants to travel to Asia!! You don't want to miss out on this amazing round of TH!NK ABOUT IT.

Until then, however, I would like to thank all of you for your wonderful work and enthusiasm in the project so far. You've been energetic, dedicated and passionate about the topic and you've really managed to shake things up on this platform. I sincerely hope I see a lot of you next round!

Now, without further ado, the winners. The winners are decided via a lengthy process. The three Editors of the TH!NK2 platform (Nanne Zwagerman, Pavel Antonov and I, Ruth Spencer) nominate two winners from our groups of bloggers, per award category, each month and we include comments with our selections. The nominations are sent to the jury (Tascha Eichenseher from National Geographic, Raymond Frenken from EUXtv and Anne Autio, the Managing Editor of the European Journalism Centre) who allocate points for each post to determine who the winners are in each category. That information is then distributed via my posts in the Editorial blog. And this month, they are:

Lara Smallman's piece  "Food For Thought - A Video Investigation"  takes scrupulous reading of food labels to a new level!

And no, I'm not picking on PRET, they are actually one of the good guys. But this wasn't the first time that their green credentials have been called into question. Only a month ago they were found to have been importing their 'fresh' sushi 7,000 miles from Chile. They try so hard with some products and yet, fall flat on their faces with others. But why? And why weren't consumers, who were certainly paying the price for supposedly greener food, making a stink about it?

Impact:

David Hiss' “Danish Text” a preview on unfair climate deal? addresses the Climategate scandal David provides a perspective from the Copenhagen climate talks upon the leaking of the so-called 'Danish text' and shows the reaction from the African states.

Even before I knew of any leaked documents the distress of the Africans was apparent. After the fossil awards ceremony, when we were actually set to leave, noise from the hallway caught our attention. My flip always in my side pocked I took some footage of what happened there.

Next we shuffled into the small, hot studio where we were told we had to sit boy-girl “because it looks better on screen” and those of us who had been selected to read out “our” questions were assigned certain seats suitably far away from each other for it to look natural and completely unscripted.

I am also announcing today, the two overall awards for TH!NK2: Climate Change.

The first award is for overall impact on the TH!NK2 platform itself, and that award is going to Lucy Setian!

Lucy's whopping 58 posts have generated lots of discussion on the platform so far. She's posted on everything from Eco-sex to bulgarian green initatives to interactive plant fights. She's been quirky and funny and definitely original! 

Her undeniable effort to shake up TH!NK2: Climate Change is being recognized today with an individual pre-selection into TH!NK3: Developing World! Congratulations, Lucy!

The next, and final award is for overall contribution to TH!NK2: Climate Change, and that award is going to Benno Hansen.

Benno's posts have incorporated research and analysis and his efforts to contribute to discussions have been terrific. He's also made an effort to get the word out about TH!NK2 on plaforms like Researchblogging.org. His posts have been consistently well written, researched and clear. His drive to simplify scientific studies or developments in climate change policy have been meaningful to this project as a whole. Benno was nominated by his Editor, Nanne and the Jury agreed that his contribution to the platform has been extremely valuable and for that he has won a Macbook Pro! Congrats, Benno! We hope you continue to post and that you will join us for TH!NK3: Developing world.
